Domestic Electrician Course

This programme is designed for individuals who have no electrical experience. The domestic electrician course offers a combination of 250 hours of home study using the study materials provided and three intensive 5 day training programs conducted at the training centre. Throughout the course tutors will be available by phone or email to address any questions. Course guidance packs are supplied to students at the start of each module.

The following units will be covered in this course:

  • Applicable building regulations for domestic electrical installation
  • Electrical safety legislation, regulations standards and terminology
  • Domestic electrical circuit installation
  • Domestic lighting circuit installation
  • Domestic electrical earthling and bonding requirements
  • Inspecting, testing and commissioning single phase domestic electrical circuits
  • Special locations and installations including kitchens
  • Domestic electrical installation pre-work survey/inspection
  • Basic understanding of 3 phase
  • 17th Edition wiring regulations requirements for electrical installation BS 7671:2008
  • Knowledge of fundamental initial verification
  • Practical application of the initial verification

  • C&G 2377 - In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment
  • C&G 2382 - 10-17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations
  • Part P Full Scope
  • City & Guilds 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) knowledge units

    • Unit 1 - Health and Safety legislation, practices and procedures
    • Unit 3 - Overseeing and organising the work environment (Electrical Installation)
    • Unit 4 - Installation of electrotechnical equipment, and systems
    • Unit 5 - Installation of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment
    • Unit 6 - Termination and connection of conductors, cables and cords in electrical systems
